Summary of activities
The Games Corporation for people aged 50 and over GÎM specializes in leisure, sport and physical activity among customers aged 50 and over. For this to do, the Corporation organizes in particular an annual regional event over four days filled with competitions, cultural evenings, introductions to new activities and much more. In 2024, the 18th edition of GÎM 50+ Games will be held in New Richmond from June 13 to 16. The GÎM Games Corporation for people aged 50 and over is also present all year round to meet the needs of its customers. To do this, several projects diversified activities are put in place such as the organization of outdoor activities for people aged 50 and over in Gaspésie and the Magdalen Islands, 3 seasons per year: winter, spring and fall. Activities may include snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, Nordic walking, hiking in little-known trails to discover, activities special events and intergenerational days. Another project carried out is the organization of physical activities offered in online for those who wish to participate in virtual activities like from fitness and stretching, to zumba, yoga and more. Finally, we collaborate with various organizations and authorities in the field on projects related to our target customers. The importance of volunteers
For the realization of the Games event there were more than 200 volunteers who get involved annually. The Corporation depends of the generosity and dedication of these volunteers who presented year after year to ensure the success of the Games. Without volunteer involvement we simply would not be impossible to organize an event of this magnitude. It is thanks to the time, energy, heart and passion of volunteers that we can proudly offer a meeting place, exchange and gathering for more than 800 people from 50 years and older, from across the region, annually.
